Work study students are those who have been awarded financial aid through the UW Office of Student Financial Aid. Wages earned by work study students are paid 20% – 50% by the employer and the rest by work study funds. Any wages exceeding the total award amount is paid 100% by the employer.<\/p>\n

How to Hire<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Submit a Job Description<\/a> online. When completing the job description clearly state the requirements and duties<\/a> of the job. Once the Work\u00a0Study Office reviews and approves your job description, you will receive an email confirming the acceptance of your job and the job number.<\/li>\n
  2. Forward approval email with job number to payroll@ece.uw.edu<\/a>. Please state whether or not you\u00a0already have an eligible student to hire.<\/li>\n
  3. Before applicants can be interviewed and hired, they must provide a Job Referral Form<\/a> from the Work Study Office to ensure that they are eligible for work study. NOTE: <\/strong>A Job Referral Form is required for each academic year and summer period that is worked even if the same student is continuing in the same job.<\/li>\n
  4. Complete the employer section of the Job Referral Form and submit to the Payroll Manager.<\/li>\n
  5. Send contact information of new employee to the Payroll Manager<\/a>. A time to meet to complete new hire paperwork must be arranged with the Payroll Manager BEFORE the employment start date.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
