This can also be found within the ECE Intranet under &#8220;Links For Faculty.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This form will generate an email notification that will collect most of the information Christie will need to prepare the visa application materials. Some things to keep in mind when requesting a VISIT Intern:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Whenever possible, please submit this form as early as possible. <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/peden.ece.uw.edu\/payroll-ops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2024\/07\/VISIT-and-VISER-Program-Timeline-2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VISIT Program Timeline<\/a> was created by the UW VISIT Office to provide an estimate on how long processing may take. In our department, Step 4 usually takes 3-5 weeks to complete.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Federal sponsored research grants cannot be used to cover visa charges.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The fees associated with the visa application are:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Initial J-1 visa requests: $580<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One-time VISIT Program Fee: $1,500 &#8211; This is paid by the VISIT intern but the faculty can choose to pay this on their behalf.
