H-1B<\/a><\/th>\nH-1B is a nonimmigrant status held by a foreign national performing services in a \u201cspecialty occupation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The following titles can hold this visa:<\/p>\n

  • Professor<\/li>\n
  • Lecturer<\/li>\n
  • Research Associate (post-doctoral, and only if the person has held an Optional Practical Training [OPT]).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
J-1<\/a><\/th>\nThe UW’s Exchange Visitor Program sponsors foreign nationals as temporary members of the academic staff, including:<\/p>\n

  • Visiting faculty<\/li>\n
  • Visiting researchers (Research Associates, Visiting Scientists, Visiting Scholars)<\/li>\n
  • Visiting international Professional Scholars<\/li>\n
  • VISIT Program Interns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
F-1<\/a><\/th>\nThe purpose of the F-1 Visa is to bring in academic students to study and earn their respective degree(\u2019s).<\/p>\n

Persons who would be eligible for the F-1 visa are all students who would meet the qualifications outlined by Electrical Engineering Department, International Scholars Office<\/a>, and the University of Washington.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
