The\u00a0University encourages staff to work from home during suspended operations if operationally feasible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Nonessential staff<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">If UW temporarily suspends nonessential operations due to severe weather or for other reasons, nonessential staff who can telework are encouraged to continue to do so during the operational suspension. Those who cannot telework or are unable to continue teleworking due to power outages or other impacts should follow the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/policies\/suspended-operations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">UW Suspended Operations Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Essential staff<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Under the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/policies\/suspended-operations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">UW Suspended Operations Policy<\/a><span class=\"x_MsoHyperlink\">,\u00a0<\/span>only staff performing essential functions and who are not in positions that lend themselves to telework are required to report to work on-site during suspended operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Decisions to suspend non-essential operations on the Seattle, Bothell, or Tacoma campuses are made independently based on the prevailing conditions in their respective locations. If operations are suspended mid-day (between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), your department&#8217;s designated emergency contact (usually a dean or vice president) is responsible for disseminating the information. Employees may also call the UW&#8217;s toll-free emergency information line at 1-866-897-4636 or visit the UW homepage for suspended operations information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">If you have questions about HR practices during suspended operations and\u00a0inclement\u00a0weather, please contact your unit&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/contact-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">Human Resources Consultant<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">You can find helpful tools for managing suspended operations on the<span class=\"x_apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/isc.uw.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"3\">ISC\u2019s website<\/a>.
