458, M446, M454 offices will be designated as future permanent faculty offices. These are prime locations and would be ideal for future faculty members.  Also they could serve as overflow transient offices with the idea that if a new permanent faculty member is hired the visiting instructor will have to move.

Office space will be identified as visiting transient offices for the purposes of housing visiting faculty, lecturers, researchers, etc.  We should have four rooms designated for high-end visitors that require privacy (a VIP room). The majority of the rooms will be for two visitors. The following chart indicates where these offices are located.

Each room should have as many computers as people the room is designed to hold. One computer for one-person rooms, two computers for two person rooms. Each room should have one dry erase board and printer. The two-person room will have to share the printer via LAN.

Priority for the two-person rooms will be determined by first come first serve. The VIP rooms will be reserved the same way but the Space Committee will determine if they can reserve that room. The Chair should resolve any priority issues or conflicts that might arise from the reservation of the single-persons offices (VIP Room).

All transient offices should be reserved via intranet much like we do now for conference rooms. The sponsoring faculty member will reserve the room for the visiting member using the intranet. To reserve the single-person offices an email request must go through the space committee. The space committee as a whole will decide whether the space will be reserved or not. Sufficient time, at least one month, must be given to reserve the office so that facilities can set up the room for the next visitor. Additionally a two-week set up time is required between visitors. The visiting member will go to the facilities manager when they arrive in order to sign for the room key. Also for the sake of cost, rooms will not be remodeled every time a new visitor occupies room.
