About the Awards

The UW Electrical & Computer Engineering Awards program recognizes outstanding efforts by its students, faculty, staff, alumni and industry partners. Award recipients represent exceptional achievements; embody UW ECE core values such as leadership, collaboration, and teamwork; and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion. Awardees will be honored at a private UW ECE Awards Lunch on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Yang Award for Outstanding Doctoral Student Recognizes a UW ECE doctoral student who has conducted outstanding research in the field of electrical and computer engineering, as evidenced by their publications or recognized by outside researchers in their field.

**Candidates are required to provide a 5-10 min recorded research presentation as part of the nomination process. **

Vikram Jandhyala and Suja Vaidyanathan Endowed Innovation Award in Electrical and Computer Engineering

 

Recognizes a UW ECE undergraduate or graduate student who has demonstrated entrepreneurial potential. Learn more Student General Form Selection Committee $2,500
Outstanding Mentorship Award in Electrical and Computer Engineering Recognizes any member of the UW ECE community including faculty, staff, students, alumni, industrial advisors, and others whose exemplary mentoring and advising activities have made important contributions in building a supportive culture in the UW ECE Department. Anyone General Form Selection Committee $2,500 each (up to two winners)
Outstanding Teaching Award  Recognizes a faculty member who demonstrates outstanding teaching abilities in the UW ECE Department. Faculty General Form Eric Klavins and Payman Arabshahi will select four finalists to be voted on in a general student poll $1,000
Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award  Recognizes a student who demonstrates an outstanding contribution to teaching in the UW ECE Department. Student TA General Form Eric Klavins and Payman Arabshahi will select four finalists $1,000
Outstanding Staff Award Recognizes a staff member who shows an exemplary commitment to UW ECE and whose service has made a lasting impact on the department. Staff General Form Chair & Admin $1,000
Outstanding Collaboration/ Teamwork (Chair’s Award) Recognizes exemplary collaborative work, especially in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion. Recipients can be a team member, an entire team, or a specific collaboration. Anyone No nomination – Chair only
