As a nonresident of the U.S., you may be eligible to claim a tax treaty exemption. However, you must have a social security card first in order to do so. Tax treaty forms should be filled out via Glacier.

How to Claim A Tax Treaty Exemption

  1. If applicable, obtain a social security card.
  2. Access Glacier via this link: https://www.online-tax.net/
  3. If you do not have access to Glacier, please contact the payroll coordinator.
  4. Fill out the Glacier forms online. Here is a cheat sheet.
  5. Once completed, print out the forms (do not print on both sides; only single sided), sign the forms, then submit the signed forms to the the UW payroll office (box 359555)
  6. If you are unable to go to the UW tower, or use campus mail, please contact the payroll coordinator for help.
