Terms of Use for Licensed Software
This document lists the limitations placed on use of software the UW Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is licensing. Limitations specific to use in research are in bold.
Login Issues
The ECE department no longer maintains a separate ECE account infrastructure. Logging into ECE computers uses your UW account information (NetID and Password). Please note that access to many ECE computing systems is restricted – even if you have a NetID, you may not have permission to log into a particular system.
Changing Your Password
The ECE department no longer maintains a separate ECE account infrastructure. This means the password you use on ECE systems is the same one you use everywhere else at UW – your NetID password.
How Do I Get An ECE Account?
The ECE department no longer maintains a separate ECE account infrastructure. Your NetID does need to be affiliated with ECE groups; but, for the vast majority of users, that happens automatically. Please see https://peden.ece.uw.edu/computing/faq/do-i-need-an-ece-account/ for more information.
Do I need an “ECE Account”?
If you are taking classes in ECE, or working in one of our research labs, you may hear someone say you need an “ECE computing account”. So what exactly is that, you ask?
